THE KNIGHT OF THE BOX
NEAR THE STATION

Solo Storytelling Show 2013

This is the story of cynical commuter Sam as he escapes his dreary monotone existence in an impulsive act of rebellion.  Finding himself in a dreary seaside side town out of season, Sam reluctantly helps The Knight on a valiant mission to find his magic voice and rescue The Lady in a quest for love.  The most noble quest of all.

ABOUT THIS SHOW

I've always loved quixotic tales, someone seeing magic in the mundane, and enjoyed writing this as my first 'story' show.  Realising I had three separate stories (before they became one at the end) I opted for the main story being told by me, the second through animation by friend, loon and talented digital artist Alex Rabjohns and the third using the recorded dulcet tones of 'hey, where do I know that guy from' busy but not quite famous yet actor Richard Rycroft.

As the idea for the show came about rather late, I didn't start previews until I was at The Fringe, leading to rather mixed (but just) reviews, as everyone loved the material, but no my performance as I didn't quiet know it well enough,  until we got toward the end of the festival, where it all came together and became one of my favourite things I've done.

I've recorded a version of this for release and will do so once I can be bothered to edit it.
